The customers today enjoy control, have a variety of choice and expect personalization from any service or product providing business. Restaurants are primarily subjected to these three criteria a lot. The current hit in the restaurant industry is restaurant POS software as it helps the restaurants in achieving their goals and keeping the customers satisfied and happy. Quick serving restaurants have also gained a lot of popularity in the last few years and paired with POS technology, they become a force to be reckoned with!

So, what are Quick Service Restaurants? Well, they are commonly known by their abbreviation, QSR, and are fast food restaurants that prepare food items which require minimal preparation time and can be presented to the customer almost instantly. Given how busy our lives have become in the last few years, their popularity is justified! In commercial areas, these are immensely popular as people have very little time for eating before they are called to manage their business or continue with their jobs! Let’s look at the other reasons why QSRs have become so popular:

Healthy Youth Population:

According to a study, millennials ageing 15-35 spend most of their earnings on food. But, they can’t spend all their earning on food at once and so are on the lookout of economical and minimal preparing time food! Both these criteria fit the QSR restaurants perfectly. So, even when Quick Service Restaurants run promotions and offers, they keep their target audience in mind and come up with something that would appeal to them. It’s also important for QSRs to digitize their customer services so they meet customer expectations.

Increasing Trend of Eating Out:

Gone are the days when it was expected of women to work in the kitchen and provide for food. Today’s woman is educated and career-oriented, striving to attain their dreams and aspirations. As everyone in a house is busy now, the trend of eating online has increased a lot. According to research on average, in the South East Asian region, families go out six times a week for food. Eating at posh and expensive restaurants all the time is just not possible, QSRs provide a good alternative. And even if you go to an expensive QSR, you will be at least saving time!

Internet Penetration:

With every passing day, more and more people are getting access to high-speed internet connections. Thanks to the impact of online ordering services like foodnerd, even the people on small cities can order their food online. Food aggregator websites lots of promotions all year round, so people have started to prefer ordering online. Even if a restaurant isn’t on such a platform, it is expected to have an online presence to succeed in this increasingly competitive, digital world!

Chains of QSRs:

It is very common for QSRs to have multiple chains. Once a QSR makes a brand name, people expect that of it. It’s also a fact that QSR gets loyal customers faster than any other kind of restaurant. And as their followers are the generation that uses the internet the most, the news of any new chain opening spreads like wildfire. Once your restaurant has made a brand name, opt for opening in other places too, so your audience increases.

COVID-19’s Impact:

As takeaways have become much more popular since COVID-19 struck, it makes sense that the people have gravitated to QSRs more than ever. Food is prepared and delivered in minimal time, ensuring that people don’t have to stand in long lines with other human beings, increasing the odds of getting infected by the deadly virus.
